About us

The Polaris Standard

Polaris Climate & Mechanical was founded on a simple belief: clients deserve honest engineering advice and workmanship they can rely on.

After more than 20 years in the mechanical engineering industry, including helping to build and lead a multi-million-pound M&E business, I wanted to create a company focused on quality rather than simply growth.

Whether we're designing an air conditioning system, installing a heat pump, upgrading a commercial gas installation or solving a complex ventilation challenge, our approach never changes.

We listen first, understand what's important to our client and recommend the solution we'd choose ourselves if it were our own building.

That often means taking a little more time during the survey, asking more questions and considering the long-term performance of a system rather than just the installation itself.

Polaris was built to be the engineering company I'd want to employ myself — one that turns up when it says it will, communicates honestly and takes pride in doing the job properly.

If that sounds like the sort of company you're looking for, we'd be delighted to help.

What customers say

Trusted across the South West.

Real Polaris projects across Exeter, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset.

"Brilliant from survey to commissioning. Polaris engineered a 5kW system for our open-plan kitchen and the pipework is invisible. Comfortable in time for the heatwave."

Sarah H.

Exeter, Devon

"Three rooms done as a multi-zone system. The Polaris engineers were spotless — drop sheets everywhere, hoovered on the way out. Couldn't recommend them more."

James & Lucy P.

Truro, Cornwall

"Travelled all the way to us in Dorset without fuss. Honest survey, fixed price, and the finance option made it really easy to spread the cost."

Dr. M. Whitford

Dorchester, Dorset

"F-gas qualified and it shows. Vacuum tested the lines properly, talked us through the remote and left the place tidier than they found it."

Tom R.

Taunton, Somerset

"Quiet, efficient and beautifully fitted. The team clearly do this every day — single-room split in a few hours and we've barely heard it since."

Helena B.

Exmouth, Devon

FAQ

Common questions.

How long does a typical install take?
Duration depends on site conditions, but generally one day on site for our engineers. Multi-zone systems may take longer depending on pipework routing.
Do you supply the unit, or do I buy it?
We supply genuine equipment from leading manufacturers at trade pricing. We normally design, supply and install the complete system., ensuring you have everything you need — Polaris is a registered F-gas company.
Will the install make a mess?
Installation mess is kept to a minimum and the site is left tidy on completion. Drop sheets go down and dust is vacuumed up before we leave.
Which areas do you cover?
Polaris is based in Clyst St Mary, just outside Exeter, and covers the whole of Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset — Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro, Bournemouth, Taunton and everywhere in between.
Do you offer finance?
Yes — flexible finance options are available so you can spread the cost over manageable monthly payments. Ask us for indicative figures with your quote.
What does the workmanship warranty cover?
Five years on all installation work — pipework, brackets, electrical connection and refrigerant charge. The equipment itself carries the manufacturer warranty, which typically ranges from 5–7 years and varies by manufacturer, model and registration or servicing requirements.
